At Princeton reunions, each class wears a different outfit - variations on orange and black and tigers. With 1,000s of returning graduates, some of whom may
have aged a bit since college, different outfits are a great way to see instantly and from a distance whether or not someone was in your class.
Our "official" uniform featured muted, tasteful orange, black, and white stripes on everything - jacket, hat, and vest, plus a black club tie with
our class' tiger logo, and khaki pants....Most wore some variation of this; at 50 years out, no one cared about anything except your being there.
About 300 men returned (Princeton was all male during our years) - approximately half of those still living. The campus was segmented by temporary wooden
fences (reminicent of Fort Peanut for us Andover graduates) that enclosed areas for the various reunions classes - 5th, 10th, 25th, etc.
Our main tent was on the upper part of the campus, just on the left behind Blair Arch....
in the quasi-quadrangle between Blair and Joline, bordered on one side by the diagonal path we all took to Commons from our freshman year dorms.
This was the general gathering place, on the grass or under the tents for socializing during the day, drinks before dinner, and dancing afterwards.
Dinner was held under another tent, just across the Commons walk - directly above the Blair Arch steps and diagonally below
Alexander Hall.
The weather was beautiful except for after dinner Friday night, when it rained hard for some time, as the straw on the grass indicates.
Saturday morning, we dedicated a stone plaque at the base of Nassau Hall in memory of the 106 classmates who have died and held a very moving
memorial service in the chapel afterwards.
Sunday morning, we had brunch at the Carnegie Lake Boathouse.
